Good morning from a steamy-hot Toronto! I am the happy owner of one of your Lucky Dips, and I actually set my alarm (we are 5 hours behind you) last week in order to secure a tiny portrait and I did, it’s arrived, and I’m waiting for a quiet moment to savour opening it. Thank you!! Your work is just enchanting and, for me, it’s imbued with happy childhood imaginings and I’m delighted to dip a toe into your creative world by reading your stories and admiring your pieces. Have a lovely Sunday. 🩷

Thank you Sydney. I am pleased the artwork arrived to you quickly and I hope you enjoy. I like to wait for the right moment to open a package. I am notorious for hoarding things for that reason. Thank you for reading and have a good week ahead.

Don't you just hate it when you waste calories on a disappointing sweet? Or any dish, for that matter? My late husband would sometimes leave half of his food on the plate when we went out to dinner if something didn't suit him. Me? I always ate everything even if I didn't like it because I couldn't stand wasting the money. So, I got fat and he stayed slender. Apparently, there's a lesson here that I missed.

I love your little stories. They start my week off on the right foot. Thank you.

I understand Marilee, I tried so hard to enjoy what should have been a simple pleasure - knowing I hate waste. Bland cake is a small concern in a seriously wonky world, but I am peeved by the lack of good cake in cafes and coffee shops…. Have a good week

Greetings Cathy. I love reading your little stories and wonder how I might write mine. I look for symbols of goodness, like your white dove, in my life too. Today's embroidery is magnificent. And I so enjoy your daily drawings.

Just to let you know that something's amiss; I was surprised not to find my usual Sunday notification of your Studio Notes in my email this morning - for the first time - tll Deb Champion referred to you (with a link) as one of "the cool substack kids" in her champignons@substack.com . Like Deb, I certainly don't find you "invisible", grateful as I am for your inspirational talent.

Thank you always for reading Lorraine and I am grateful to you for taking the time to look at my work…. Sorry to read the studio notes did not appear on your email. Please check your spam but if this happens again maybe try re-subscribing. I really don’t understand how you would be taken off the list. Have a good week ahead.

I used to live in an area where you’d be afraid if England lost. You lent really want to go out of doors. I often find myself haunted my cakes, it’s rude, that many calories should taste nice

I especially like how the previous sketch shows ghostlike through the page, whispering its story to the new day. Regarding peas… the other day, I watched a cooking show where a pea cake was baked and relished. Always inspiring to come here, Cathy.
