Thank you always for your studio notes, Cathy. This line meant so much to me today, “Years ago, I remember finding the woodland and realising I was no longer going to be lonely.”
I particularly love the story about Other People's Ailments. It's the perfect description of the energy levels and the kind of mind that we have when not feeling our best selves. Your descriptions were so poetic and accurate. So very relatable.
Your abstract is beautiful and I love that you like to swing into abstract work from realism. Well, I love all of your work. Can't help but study and stare at the images!
It seems that rain is much needed in so many places on earth right now. We are in a very dangerously severe drought where I live, not to mention ten degree plus hikes in our average temperatures for a very long time. Our big reservoirs are dwindling to nothing. I do hope and pray for rain for you and the rest of the world that is so desperately needing it. I don't think that I have ever looked forward to the cooler temperatures as I do right now. I am hoping for the crispness of fall and the snowy bite of winter. We've also had no snow to speak of for several years. It seems pretty dismal right now but I refuse to give up hope.
Wishing you the blessing of cooler weather and rain.
Thank you Cheryl and I appreciate your thoughtful comment very much.
I really do hope we can have at least a period of time when the weather feels slightly less extreme for all of us. Perhaps my optimism is waning, but I will still hope.
Thank you for this interesting post. I enjoyed reading about your painted paper process. Inspiring to see how you use it in collages, too. so sorry to hear you are feeling under the weather some. My wish is for is you to feel better and heal more each day. Your smell memory is an interesting one.
So glad to hear you're feeling stronger, Cathy. Fall will be here soon, and we Autumn Girls will be out every day soaking up the colors and then rushing back home to make something beautiful or weird--or both. xo
WoW! Quite an array of varied images you have served us today, both in words and in paint. Always food for thought on Sundays. I enjoyed seeing the painting develop. A good point for any artist to remember: you can always add to, but you can't take back what you paint if it's overworked.
Oh my! To be painting wallpapers for a dollhouse - such a dreamy thing to do Cathy! I wonder if the house behind the young woman is the dollhouse you are building? There is always a story-behind-the-scenes feel to your work which makes it that much more intriguing. Lovely post as always.
Good Morning Cathy. I am so pleased to hear that you are feeling better and energy levels are increasing. Ive been playing with old paper this week, in the old folk art style of collage, Ive found it very theraputic. Im praying for rain now, as the well has run dry here and the donkeys are struggling, as are all livestock. I carry water down to them twice a day. Thank you for sharing your painting process, your work is beautifully put together. Wishing you a joyous and creative week ahead, hopefully with rain ! love and best wishes, always xxx
Deborah, thanks so much for your lovely comment. I do hope we have a good and steady rainy few weeks ahead! It is so hard on all the animals and plants. Thank you for caring for the donkeys. Sending love and hope you have a good week ahead xx

Always a delight to read, Cathy. And I love the Sunflower Days painting 🌻
Many thanks Michelle and thank you for reading
Great idea about allowing yourself an "abstract" August. I can't wait to see what comes of it.
Thank you, an abstract August is going to be an interesting time and I look forward to sharing some of what I may create

Thank you and yes, always best to leave something alone is my best advice - come back later with fresh eyes!
Wonderful as always, Cathy! I’m amused by your legs off on a holiday without you.💕
Thank you Sheila, I am glad you were amused - I think I enjoy some surreal playfulness when writing

Thank you Colee - I would like to build a house like the one in the painting! Your kind comment is much appreciated
