Your new work is breathtaking, and I don’t mean that as simply a phrase, I saw the first painting and my breath escaped. I adore your work, your flowers fill me with such peace and joy. It’s like being called to a different time a part of me remembers and is slowly reawakening. I feel like I am coming back to life when I see your work and read your stories. Your news letter has been such a wonderful part of my recovery and I thank you for sharing your world.
As I do every Sunday I have just had a lovely time sipping coffee and reading your studio notes! I find it very relaxing but sometimes I make notes too, today I have made a note to myself to try painting on patchwork textures and to explore my favourite colours and make a palette page of my favourite and most-used (or most-thought-about) colours. I love the flower rugs and I can’t help thinking about how they would feel under your feet, a treat for the feet I think. I used to do a lot of needlepoint cushion kits about twenty years ago. I did the ones with the design printed on the canvas as the counted ones stress me out! Funnily enough I looked last night for the website and the company I got them from are still going so I might treat myself to a kit for the Winter months.
I agree with all of this. The perfect way to start a Sunday morning. And I always feel enriched in the art and the stories. I crochet and counted cross stitch and I think these are also dying arts it’s hard to fina a shop that carries supplies and ordering online you can’t touch what you might want to purchase. Cathy Cullis. Thank you
Thank you Susan, yes needlework shops were such valuable places for local communities but now so many are gone - I remember seeing so many more as a child and they have slowly disappeared. But I hope stitching always remains!
It is always a treat when your email notifications appear on my laptop. I love reading your words and seeing the images you create....simple pleasures that can easily make my day. I am a long time needlepointer and will not stop as long as my fingers and eyes work. I create and stitch my designs. I look forward to your update on Wednesday.
Thank you Janet! I am so pleased to know you are a needlepoint artist and I hope you enjoy all that you do. Really looking forward to sharing my notes this week coming. Thanks always.
Flowers appearing everywhere, as they should, especially in our winter's mind - memories of spring and summer. So much beauty to store away. You have managed to do so in a magical manner. As always, gorgeous work! Brings a smile to my face.
Thank you Catherine! Looking through my sketchbooks I found so many wintry pages and was reminded in other places it is indeed winter! I hope whatever the weather where you are it brings you inspiration. Thank you for your kind comment.
Another lovely Sunday morning read, I really really like your new work with the linen pieces, adds a whole new dimension to your painted images. I have samples of striped linen in my fabric cabinet that have been sitting unused for several years. Now I'm motivated to try something new! And, your embroidered wool rugs...wow, all those amazing French knots, as a stitcher I know how long that takes. They are stunning (I'm partial to circles of colour!)
Thank you! I have used striped fabric on a few sketchbook pages in the past. I liked the effect. I love French knots and that’s just as well really - as these rugs take so many! Thank you for reading and for taking the time to leave a lovely comment
I love the paintings- the bold flowers and the colours and especially the raised lines created by the linen; it looks like you assembled the painting from different pieces, like a puzzle!
Your notebooks… I was staring at the pictures for several minutes - what an absolute jewel of a collection!
I know this is an accumulation of your work, but I can't get over how prolific you are, and then how distinctly everything you do is so clearly your "style." Your flowers always make me happy.
Lovely stories as always. I know what you mean about the dearth of stitchcraft wares for a while now. I think there’s a little resurgence though and I’m looking forward to going to a Knit & Sew Show in November. Your rug is lovely. I’m impressed at how much wool you’ve managed to find here and there and the colour palette is so much allied to your own choices too xx

Thank you Ann for a very thoughtful comment. I wish you well and appreciate your encouragement very much.

I hope so too
Your embroidery/knotwork is incredible, Cathy! Such characters you describe in your stories!💕
Many thanks Sheila! I find the knots quite relaxing and addictive to stitch.

Your work is lovely and inspiring! I love how you use so many mediums — as a beginner artist I am inspired by your creativity. Thank you for sharing.
