I so enjoy whatever you choose to share with us here, Cathy.

You made me laugh out loud, looking like a half-finished German Expressionist painting!

The emergency parking tale reminded me of my second driving test. I was pulling into a parking space at the test centre, breathing a sigh of relief that the ordeal was almost over. Just then, a wasp appeared and began buzzing around my head. Being nervous around stinging things, I swatted furiously, managing to stop the car just short of the fast approaching brick wall. I somehow passed the test, and have never driven since that day, over 30 years ago. xx

Thanks always Mags. I love your driving test story - and how you have not driven since. As a non driver I can understand this. Xx

Always a delightful read, Cathy! I believe that many of us are questioning our habits with how we spend our time, especially on anything digital. We are being manipulated by algorithms and AI and it has changed the way that we can interact with each other. This is most unfortunate when we have discovered friends around the world! As a result I’m spending much less time on Instagram. I do appreciate your Substack posts and the opportunity to feel a sense of connection here! Thank you for all that you share!

Another batch of great shorts. I, too, remember the yellow streaks from the fake tans. Unfortunately, I did finally just go out in the sun and get toasty brown the natural way. Now, 50 years later I have regular appointments at the dermatologist to check for a variety of skin cancers.

Thank you Marilee, I hope you may stay well. I have someone in my extended family who is gone through numerous procedures for skin cancer. It’s always worth remembering to protect our skin and these days I prefer to avoid the sun when it is extremely warm, but as you suggest, we can never be too careful. Thank for reading and have a good week x

Thank you for writing to us Cathy. It is always a little Sunday treat. I have spent a lot less time on IG. I have found the ‘sponsored’ sites nearly every other post/story annoying and decided I don’t need to give the IG machine my previous time when I can’t connect with those I follow because of all the spam in the way. So much prefer connecting this way and on YouTube.

Beautiful embroideries, as always, Cathy. I hope to buy a second one from you sometime in the not too distant future - it's a tricky process with a s l o w internet as I lose out to fellow purchasers switching across to PayPal. No doubt the right portrait will magically find it's way here when it's ready.

As we drift into the second part of the year it's good to reflect on how we use our time isn't it. The internet captures our fascination and seems to enjoy spinning us down the millions of rabbit holes - it's like being happily lost in an endless maze until you suddenly trip over the pocket watch and realise that a couple of hours has gone by. I'm back to a good book at bedtime now. TV news is too focussed on all the gaudy drama going on around the edge of the carousel and I'm determined to stay in the quiet centre and follow my own simple fascinations around the house and garden....it's called contentment.

Happy crafting. x

Thank you Di, I appreciate you taking the time to read and share your thoughts. A good before sleep is just the best thing for me also.

I am grateful to you for your interest in my embroidery and I hope perhaps a special piece for you will come about. Thank you and have a good week ahead x

I laughed at the fake tan bit. I look down at my legs and they look like someone’s rolled a tea bag down them. I was promised a non smelling, non streaking, natural fading sun kissed look. Don’t believe them stay away from the fake tans. Have a good day and enjoy the sunshine. I’m off to potter in the garden and play in my sketchbook.
