Photo: a scene of collections and handmade things in my studio space
A briefer one today... sending my very best wishes for the festive season.
As we reach the winter solstice, light returns so gradually it is almost hard to appreciate. But we know it is there, extending the days little by little. I will make a wreath on the solstice and gather a few bits of greenery from my garden. I will also be going to the hospital for a follow-up x ray or two on my foot. The broken foot saga has certainly changed plans for me over the past several weeks. I thank you for tolerating my mentions of it all.
I have been very busy these past few months and am so grateful that I have been able to continue to make and sell. As a full-time artist this is so important - to be able to create no matter…. Each sale is much appreciated, always.
As always a big thanks to all who supported me this year, by purchasing work, buying me a coffee or simply but thoughtfully sending an email sharing your ideas.
photo: Christmas decorating with mostly vintage and handmade ornaments
In recent days I have enjoyed decorating my home and always look forward to this season, an opportunity to make festive scenes and bring bright fun into our living space. I hope you enjoy this too. Or, if you prefer a quieter time, I hope you may find peace in reflective days.
I hope studio notes will return in the new year. If you have not yet subscribed, please do stay in touch. Meanwhile, you might like to follow my ‘twelve days of sketchbooks’ on Instagram. Also, I am posting more on my craft account : @phaedraspoon and you are welcome to follow there. My friend Kath aka Knitchings and I were talking about Phaedra as being a bit like my alter ego - or my weekend self who gets to make things purely for the pleasure of crafting. We were enjoying hot chocolate and watching football as we discussed this - it all felt rather surreal and wonderful. I am so grateful for my friends and family.
Photo: a Christmas book shelf - I made the angel on the right a few years ago. The other pieces are all vintage.
One last note: I look forward to a special end of year update in my shop on December 28th - at the usual time of 8pm. I will be offering artwork from my archives and a few new pieces.
I wish you a very Merry Christmas. Sending all best wishes from my family to yours.
Thanks Cathy. A good read as always. Have a good Christmas.
