Oh small world! I went to school in Hillingdon. I worked in Ealing Broadway for a while also. My Dad worked in Hanwell... Yes I can imagine the 207 was never a quiet bus.
Changing socks in a cafe? So ugh. I was once on a train sitting in business class when an older man across the aisle took off his shoes and socks! Needless to say he was politely asked to put his socks back on. Your poetry was lovely, brought spring to the forefront to me this morning even though I'm still looking out at snow.
Thank you for your kind comment Nora - why do people do these things? it almost seems provocative. I hope the snow disappears and spring arrives for you soon.
Thank you Bea! Much appreciated (and yes what people are thinking re: changing socks at a table with people eating close by, but then people never stop baffling me).
We go to Ealing Broadway often to visit a friend in a care home but not on the 207, we go on the 65 from Richmond or Kew Bridge, depending on how we feel that day. My mum had a particular expression to go with the same phrase "anyway…as I was saying.." something adjacent to a raised eyebrow and an eye roll ✨
Thank you Nancy! Yes, small world again - I looked up the 207 route and see it has changed - only the night bus runs all the way from Uxbridge. I like Richmond and that area, but don’t go very often these days.
I love your bird paintings. I could take the 141 or the 21 to school and I was pleased that they both ended in 1, but still slightly wished the 21 was called the 121.
The singing birds w yellow flowers!!! It’s just WONDERFUL Cathy!!!
Thank you Jana, I am glad you like the birds
Love your work! There's a cohesiveness even though you wirk with lots of different materials
Thank you Laura, very much appreciated!
I remember the 207 as I lived in Hillingdon and worked in Acton for a few years.
Early start catching the bus about 5.45 am.
It always felt quite magical in the early mornings, surprising busy on the bus as well!

I always love your little short stories. Such a gift to express in a few words.
I love wild stormy type back grounds. Hope you are feeling well. I've done no art this week. Yes. I need to correct that.
I hope the week ahead might bring you a creative spark, if you want it, Cathy. Thank you for reading.

Yes, it's been raining so the snow is finally melting! Exciting news...
Changing socks at a table? My nose wrinkles at the thought.
I love your poems, they are as evocative as your lovely paintings

Thank you Celandine - there’s something about numbers and feeling safe with them, I understand
All right, I'll ask it. What the bloody hell was that woman thinking?
Love that the birds knew exactly where to land on your ready-made backgrounds. Clever feathered heads, are they not?
Thank you Marilee, the birds keep appearing and I think that’s a good remedy for all the random behaviours of people in coffee shops, possibly!
My bus was the 22 Burnside, although I always walked to school.
Loving your spring poetry, Cathy!💕🌹💐
Thank you so much Sheila, and thanks also for sharing your bus/walking!
I love crows there's one that follows me when I walk my dog each morning because I throw him peanuts while the dog aniously watches for his treat🙂
Thank you for your crow/dog story Antony, they are both such intelligent creatures
last summer’s broken smile of twigs
I LOVE this!
Many thanks for reading Nancy
