What a fine and wonderful advent. I have had the pleasure of shepherding Welsh Mountain Blacks...they are wild and lovely. Happy spinning.
I finally have you're 'A Pocketful of Ghosts' as we have returned from France. I waited until I had the time to fully immerse myself in enjoying your words, and the wonderful surprise of the gift of tea. It was a new one for me, and I liked it so much, it will soon grace our cupboard.
I loved your stories. Thank you Cathy.
I hope you have some sun shining on you this week.
Love those winter landscapes. I am not very good at depicting snow, probably because I grew up in Southern California and we hardly knew what a good rain was from one year to the next. Also, I too am stuck on 39, but then for good reason. That's my birth year. Yes, I'm that old. Yikes.
Thank you Marilee - I can imagine some people rarely if ever see snow. Maybe a bit of rain - I can send plenty of rain from here, if you might like some! But alas I do not have magical weather powers! Never old, Marilee, so long as you keep thinking creatively x
Fortunately, 20 years ago I moved to Oregon from California after getting tired of year-round summer, and we have a lovely, long rainy season, and sometimes even snow. I love it. And I agree, thinking creatively helps keep a person young in spirit. One of my grandmothers was still crocheting and doing hand quilting into her 99th year. When I visited her, we would play a rousing game of Chinese checkers, and she always won. No giving "the kid" a break. Plus, my own mother was active until her 94th year. I'm hoping I have the same genetic makeup. I can't imagine just sitting around twiddling my thumbs waiting for time to pass.
Cathy thank you for your special being and your ability to communicate joy in the simplest ( and therefore especially perfect ) moments. I love to read what you
write. ( am reading Czeslaw Milosz’s biography at the moment )
I would love to purchase one of your beautiful embroidered brooches for my wife but I am
Thank you always Douglas. I am humbled by your interest and send all my best wishes to you and Morna. I would be interested to know what you think of CM's biography.
Cathy, seeing your newsletter always brings a smile to my inbox. Your creativity is a joy to behold every week. The short stories are a continued delight and encourage me to be especially aware of the people around me wherever I am.
Oh, your Winter Dips! That perfect Moon in a black velvet sky...
I have not spindle spun in a while....I bought my granddaughter a painted spindle from a man in Maine. She is almost two, and each year, on her birthday, I spin a different woole on it. I plan to give it to her when she turns twelve. It all sounds somewhat magickal, doesn't it...
I enjoy your studio notes so much Cathy. They read like letters from a far away friend, something that feels hand written and personal. Thank you.
Thank you Victoria for such a lovely and thoughtful comment - so very much appreciated!
Good morning Cathy.
Now I'm pondering on thirty nine too!

Thank you Helen for your super comment - shepherding Welsh Mountain Blacks!? Oh my heart. I will think of you as I spin the wool.
Glad you liked the tea! I love discovering new teas.
Thanks always for reading and hope you have a good week

everything will sell, what you create is always

Thank you Coco, I really appreciate kind feedback on my stories - they may be small but they mean a lot to me, in my own simple way!
They are small but powerful stories :)

Beautiful work Cathy. I love your writings, they also have a sense of calm and beauty, just like your beautiful needlework and painting.
