a brief note

heatwave bank holiday

Hello Everyone

A new tiny portrait - woman in a painterly dress. This work will be included in my next shop update.

It is a very warm weekend here in the south of England - and a bank holiday tomorrow. We are so used to rainy, dismal holidays no one is quite sure what to do with themselves - well that is not quite true. I am certainly staying as cool as possible (not very easy in this attic, but we have our methods). I won’t be sunbathing but I will be relaxing, painting early in the morning (as I did this morning). The hot weather is set to last into next week.

So this is just a brief one.

Thanks to everyone who has visited my shop and purchased work recently, much appreciated. I have a couple of paintings currently available, including this one:

Dream of a Walled Garden (29cm x 29cm) - I am particularly happy with this painting and enjoyed planting all the textures of this imagined landscape. I wonder if it’s just one of those paintings you have to see in person to really appreciate all the detail and colour.

My next shop update will be Wednesday 27th May at 7pm UK time with preview from 4pm - I hope to share a mix of tiny paintings, new drawings and more. (link to my shop below)

‘Busy children in a garden’. A very tiny painting for my next update, just completed this morning.

I am not afraid of painting sweet scenes, just now and then (sweet is fine, cute - big nope). I know there is a belief that to make your work stand out you need to do edgy stuff that is ‘relevant’ - whatever that means - but I’ll just continue on making work that I want to make and share with you, thank you. I’ve never chased trends or wanted huge fame. I am grateful to be doing what I do. So I am grateful to you for subscribing here and showing an interest.

my new zine is coming soon and I have lots of ideas to explore over the coming weeks
